Our Educational Philosophy

At Ferguson Park Pre-School, we provide an environment that is safe, inviting and designed to stimulate your child’s interaction with their classmates and the world around them. We aim to be warm and caring, taking time to listen and to be supportive to all who are participating in our kindergarten community.

We have designed a pre-school program that cater’s for individual needs through activities presented in a way that encourages your child to participate. We provide challenging and purposeful activities, in such a way that children are able to use  materials in an individual manner, to create a unique end product.  Creativity is always encouraged.

Our play based program is aimed at fostering high self-esteem and confidence. We place a strong emphasis on children’s sensitivity toward each other, based on mutual respect for people in the wider community, and support the cultural and religious diversity of all families.

We offer learning experiences which are child initiated as well as including intentional teaching objectives. Our learning program evolves from a combination of these experiences and reflective practice.

We acknowledge the importance of parents and staff working together as partners to promote children’s well-being, education and development, preparing the children for a positive transition to primary school.

Our centre incorporates the Victorian Early Years Learning Framework. This covers 5 educational outcomes:

  1. Children have a strong sense of identity (identity)
  2. Child are connected with and contribute to their world (community)
  3. Children have a strong sense of well being (well being)
  4. Children are confident and involved learners (learning)
  5. Children are effective communicators (communication)

Our policies and procedures for Ferguson Park Pre-School are guided by Education and Care Services National Law 2010 and National Regulations 14th October, 2011.

Our educators assist your child to become more aware of the world in which they live.
We provide a warm, caring and secure environment in which to accomplish learning through play.

Our Pre-School

Ferguson Park Pre-School is not just a place for children, it is a place for families to become involved in their community. Parent participation is always encouraged, and the Pre-School is a place where you can meet new friends and contribute to your child’s learning. During the kindergarten year, our program and environment will encourage children to:

  • Build a healthy self-esteem.
  • Solve problems.
  • Develop confidence in themselves and their abilities.
  • Develop their independence.
  • Develop social skills to enable them to play co-operatively and imaginatively; to take turns and share
  • Manipulate equipment and manage tools with increasing competence and skill
  • Use activities creatively and to increase their knowledge of the world around them
  • Enjoy life
  • Be happy
